As a session and conference organiser, I thoroughly have come to dislike the word
submission to describe a session or paper that is handed in to a conference organisation, as it suggests
servility,
meekness or
obedience on the part of those who organise the sessions and write the papers. For more synonyms, check out
this thesaurus query.
In dutch we have the neutral word 'inzender' (the person who sends something 'in'). I haven't found an equally powerful word in english yet. So for now I'll stick to session organiser.
Of course, we could just add a new word to English, and start using insender ;-). Let's see if this meme spreads.
